Skeeters stomp the Stallions

Varsity Skeeters:
The varsity basketball team overcame a sluggish start to the game to defeat the North Mesquite Stallions 58-52 in a hard fought battle. The Skeeters were led in scoring by Bryson Robinson with a career high 37 points followed by 8 points from Daniel Thomas Ray. The coaches are very proud of the team for overcoming adversity and grinding out another win.

JV Skeeters:
The JV basketball team got another W beating the Stallions JV 61-49 for their 4TH win in the last 5 games. The JV was led by Wildarian Morrow with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assist, Felix Benson 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 blocks, Xavier Benson 12 points, 12 rebounds, and a big night from Jonathan Lott with 14 points, and 5 rebounds off the bench.

Freshman Skeeters:
The freshman teams gave the Stallions freshman work all night in with convincing wins that were not close from start to finish. The freshman A team won 62-45 and was led by 13 points from Grant Stewart, 9 points from Tyshion Davis, and 8 points by Jordan Johnson. The B team smashed North 68-38.

The Skeeters will be in action Friday night with all 4 teams playing the Horn Jags @ Skeeter Indoor Stadium. The JV starts at6:00 p.m. followed by the Varsity. The freshman A team tips @5:30 the small gym followed by the B team. Please come out and support your MHS hoops.

Skeeter Basketball Update

Varsity Skeeters
The varsity basketball team beat the 19th ranked team in the state, the Richardson Eagles 69-63 in a great game at the Skeeter Indoor Stadium. The game was a playoff type atmosphere and the home crowd really energized the Skeeters down the stretch. The Skeeters were led by 27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assist, 4 steals and 2 blocks from Bryson Robinson and 16 points from Anthony McGee who scored 13 of those points in the final frame. Rounding out the scoring was Wesley Curry with 9 points, Jordan King 8 points and 7 points from Aaron Sanders. The Skeeters are now tied for 1st place with the Eagles with 3 games to play.

JV Skeeters
The JV basketball team got back on the winning track with a 46-39 victory over the Eagles JV for their 3rd win in last 4 games. The JV was led by Felix Benson with 12 points, 10 rebounds, Xavier Benson 10 points, 9 rebounds, Jamison Allen 4 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assist, 4 steals, and Lester James 2 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 steal.  The JV Skeeters had a season high 45 rebounds (19 offensive, 26 defensive) vs. Richardson on the night.

Freshman Skeeters

The freshman teams both beat Richardson for the clean sweep. The A team won 53-27 and the B team won 61-36. The baby Skeeters played great defense and held Richardson to 5 points in the 2nd quarter and 2 points in the 3rd quarter. The Skeeters were led in scoring by Grant Stewart and Jordan Stenson with 13 points. Cody LeBlanc had 9 points.

German Competition

On Saturday, 10 German Students competed at the Regional German Winterfest in a variety of German themed competitions. The top 3 finishers in each category advance to state competition in San Marcos onFebruary 27 – wish them luck (and thank you for your support of our jeans day that made this possible)! There were over 1000 competetors from 30+ area schools.  If you have any of these students, please congratulate them on their accomplishments.  The skit and poetry memory in particular are a TON of work for them.

UIL Results!!

MHS co-hosted with Sunnyvale High School a large (16 schools) and tough UIL Academics practice tourney covering ALL spring meet events.  THANK YOU to all MHS staff who volunteered to time, judge, grade and help us fulfill our hosting duties!  We still need folks for a similar event on Saturday, Feb.  27th so let Darrell Taylor in P12 know if you can spare a morning or afternoon to support our “best” kids!
